The leaves are dropping, the snow has started to fall, and the season is changing. Here at Pleasure Mag, we are in our own season of change, with an (almost) entirely new crew, we have been working hard to shape this next chapter of the magazine. I’m sure many of you can relate to the growing pains of starting out, that mix of excitement and nervousness as you step into a world of fresh possibilities. What makes all the difference is having a strong team around you, people who bring qualities you might lack and who push you to grow. I feel lucky to say that we have a talented crew and a shared drive to create something special here. Our goal is to build on the legacy of Pleasure and recapture the excitement and enthusiasm that the original crew felt when they first brought this magazine to life.
Snowboarding is a special kind of community; wherever you travel, when you meet another snowboarder, there’s an instant connection. A shared passion for fresh powder days, or for lapping the park in the spring slush. It’s an unspoken bond between all of us, and between me and you, reading these pages right now. Once you step into this world, there’s no going back. Just take a look at Thomas Stöckli’s story of Manfred, who started snowboarding at age 58 and went on to ride for over 30 years.
We are responsible for how that community evolves and moves forward; it is important to be engaged and to question and challenge where we are headed. More than anything, we want to uplift the community: to celebrate diversity, share the stories of riders, their films, and grassroots events, and give a platform to photographers and writers who bring it all to life.
We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it, and that, together, we continue to shape the future of snowboarding.
